Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Community Champion

We’re looking for friendly volunteers who can help us deliver our varied calendar of events taking place at a variety of locations. This is a great opportunity to have a lot of fun and help us raise the vital funds to care for patients with life limiting conditions and their families.

Location: Various Locations.
Days and Time: Dependent on event.

Role

As an Community Champion, you will identify opportunities within your local community that can support ellenor.

Key tasks may include:

  • Accepting cheques and doing talks on behalf of ellenor
  • Supporting with campaigns and planning
  • Supporting volunteer recruitment events
  • Promoting ellenor through your network of contacts and making meaningful connections
  • Arranging talks with local community groups
  • Speaking about ellenor services and initiatives

Some key traits you will need as an Ambassador:

  • Good communicator
  • Knowledge of ellenor's services and initiatives 
  • Passion for ellenor

What you will receive in return:

  • Full training will be provided, including health and safety
  • Regular updates to ensure that volunteers are informed of ellenor services and initiatives
  • Opportunity to meet new people and build friendships
  • Being part of a fantastic volunteer group
  • Raising money and the profile for an important local cause

Challenge Events Volunteer

We’re looking for friendly volunteers who can help us deliver our varied calendar of events taking place at a variety of locations. This is a great opportunity to have a lot of fun and help us raise the vital funds to care for patients with life limiting conditions and their families.

Location: Various Locations but mainly around Kent and London
Days: Dependent on events, to be agreed with Manager
Time: Dependent on event

This is a perfect role if you only have a few hours to spare and cannot commit to regular hours. 

 

Role

As an Challenge Events Volunteer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and successful running of ellenor's busy events calendar.

Key tasks may include:

  • Welcoming, signing in and registering participants
  • Serving refreshments
  • Preparing equipment
  • Promoting ellenor campaigns and events
  • Clearing away equipment
  • Cheering on participants 

Some key traits you will need as an Challenge Events Volunteer:

  • Lots of enthusiasm
  • Good communicator
  • Knowledge of ellenor's services and initiatives 
  • Vibrant and cheery character
  • Passion for ellenor

What you will receive in return:

  • Training will be provided, including health and safety
  • Reasonable travel expenses covered (to be pre-agreed with event fundraiser)
  • Updates to ensure that volunteers are informed of ellenor services and initiatives
  • Opportunity to meet new people and build friendships
  • Being part of a fantastic volunteer group
  • Raising money and the profile for an important local cause

Cheer Volunteer

We’re looking for the loudest volunteers who can cheer on event participants. 

Location: Various Locations, mostly around Kent and London 
Days: Ad-hoc, to be agreed with Manager
Time: Usually a couple of hours but dependent on event

This is a perfect role if you only have a few hours to spare and can’t commit to a regular volunteering pattern.

 

Role

As a Cheer Volunteer, you will be located on the race route, responsible for cheering and supporting the runners/ cyclists! Please feel free to bring friends and family along to help support the team and enjoy the event with you.

Some key traits you will need as an Cheer Volunteer:

  • Lots of enthusiasm
  • The ability to make lots of noise to make sure that ellenor has the loudest supporters on the course!
  • Vibrant and cheery character
  • Passion for ellenor

What you will receive in return:

  • Reasonable travel expenses covered (to be pre-agreed with event fundraiser)
  • Meet new people and help our inspirational runners to run harder and faster – they can’t do it without you.
  • Being part of a fantastic volunteer group
  • Raising money and the profile for an important local cause

Donation Pot Collector and Leaflet Distribution Volunteer

We’re looking for friendly volunteers who can help us maintain ellenor collection pots in the local area. 

Location: Various Locations to be agreed with Line Manager. (Areas may include: Gravesham, Dartford, Bexley, Swanley, Maidstone).
Days: Ad-hoc but collection pots are to be returned to the Hospice every two weeks.
Time: Couple of hours and agreement with Line Manager but dependent on availability of volunteer.

Role

As a Pot Collector and Leaflet Distribution Volunteer, you will play a vital role in maintaining ellenor's donation collection pots in the local area. 

Key tasks may include:

  • Collecting replacement pots from ellenor, Gravesend
  • Swapping pots with local supporters
  • Issuing receipts to supporters
  • Seeking potential new locations for donation pots
  • Supporting Fundraising Team with collection pot plans

Some key traits you will need as an Donation Pot Collector and Leaflet Distribution Volunteer:

  • Good communicator and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of ellenor's services and initiatives 
  • Vibrant and cheery character
  • Passion for ellenor

What you will receive in return:

  • Training will be provided, including health and safety
  • Updates to ensure that volunteers are informed of ellenor services and initiatives
  • Opportunity to meet new people and build friendships

Volunteer Event Marshall

Location: Various Locations but mainly around North Kent

Days: Dependent on the date of event

Events:

  • Twilight Walk - Friday 20 September 2024, 5pm-10pm Gravesend area
  • Walkathon – Saturday 11 May 2024, 9am to 5pm (with various shifts available)

We’re looking for friendly volunteers who can help us deliver our varied calendar of mass participation events taking place at a variety of locations. This is a great opportunity to have a lot of fun and help us raise the vital funds to care for patients with life limiting conditions and their families.

This is a perfect role if you only have a few hours to spare and cannot commit to regular hours!

Role

As an Events Marshall Volunteer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and successful running of ellenor's busy events calendar.

Key tasks may include:

  • Supporting participants to have a safe, enjoyable event.
  • Management of movement of vehicles in a controlled area.
  • Car parking.
  • Check point management.
  • Acting as point of information.
  • Liaising with members of the team responsible for health and safety
  • Handing out refreshments.
  • Reuniting participants with their group.
  • Cheering on participants.
  • Flagging issues around your route/area.

Some key traits you will need as an Events Marshall Volunteer:

  • Lots of enthusiasm.
  • Good communicator.
  • Vibrant and cheery character.
  • Ability to use a smart phone.

What you will receive in return:

  • Training will be provided, including health and safety.
  • Reasonable travel expenses covered (to be pre-agreed with ellenor’s Events Team).
  • Updates to ensure that volunteers are informed of ellenor services and initiatives.
