ellenor receives £52,000 donation from The Rooney Family Foundation

ellenor has secured a £52,000 donation from Ward’s chairman, Paul Rooney, continuing the longstanding support for children with life limiting illnesses and their families.

The donation is from The Rooney Family Foundation, the charitable trust of Wards Estate Agent Chairman, Paul Rooney. The donation will fund a full time Children’s Clinical Nurse Specialist post for one year at ellenor.  Since 2008, The Rooney Family Foundation and Wards Estate Agents have given financial support to the charity and in that time, awarded over £759,000 to ellenor.

The charity provides clinical nursing support working with children’s families to deliver care at their place of choice, which is often their own home. This means the children can receive care in familiar surroundings.

Director of The Rooney Family Foundation, David Lench, said that “The Rooney Family Foundation have had a strong connection with ellenor for several years, and we look forward to supporting the new role of Children’s Clinical Nurse to better the lives of children across North and West Kent.”

Wards have been helping the community for 100 years, and this year, celebrating their centenary, they continue their efforts in helping people move forwards. Wards Group Managing Director, Aldo Sotgiu states that “The importance of supporting our community is part of what makes Wards more than just estate agents. We are privileged to fund such a key role in children’s and families lives with ellenor.”

Jacquie Hackett, Deputy Director of Care at ellenor said: “It is an incredible donation and I’d like to say a massive thank you to Paul and Clare Rooney for supporting the life changing care we provide to seriously ill children and families.  Our nurses provide clinical care and support, assisting with administering medication, helping with pain relief and symptom management - this amazing donation means we can continue to provide exceptional care to children and young adults affected by a life limiting or life-threatening condition.

“The Rooney Family Foundation have supported us for many years and thanks to our generous supporters, we can help families caring for a seriously ill child make the most of every moment together – whether that’s for years, months or only hours. Many of these children have complex conditions and need specialist care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
