Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteer Junior Graphic Designer:

Location: ellenor

Hours: from 4 hrs per week, Between 9am-5pm

Days: Monday to Friday

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing digital and print materials, such as social media graphics, posters, flyers and leaflets.
  • Create artwork that adheres to existing brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to brainstorm ideas and improve engagement.
  • Make edits to existing design files as needed.
  • Prepare artwork for print and digital publishing.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
  • A basic understanding of design principles (layout, typography, colour).
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow brand guidelines.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

About you:

This is an excellent opportunity for a design student, recent graduate, or early-career designer looking to build their portfolio and gain hands-on experience while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Volunteer Marketeer

Location: ellenor

Hours: from 4 hrs per week, between 9am-5pm

Days: Monday to Friday

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the marketing team with the implementation of a new Data Asset Management platform.
  • Data entry and updates
  • Assist in developing ideas to promote our marketing strategies and initiatives.

Skills:

  • Technical proficiency: familiarity with design software and understanding of design principles.
  • Attention to detail: the ability to notice and correct small errors and inconsistencies in design.
  • Collaboration: work well within a team and being open to feedback, amendments and constructive criticism

Volunteer Community and Legacy Speaker

Location: ellenor Hospice Gravesend and Swanscombe Office

Hours: from 4hrs Per Week

Times: Flexible

Days: Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday

The Role: 

  • Deliver presentations and talks about ellenor's work, focusing on the importance of legacies and leaving a gift in wills, to a variety of community groups, schools, and local organisations. 
  • Complete training within both the community and legacy teams to fully understand ellenor's mission, services, and how legacy gifts contribute to the organisation's sustainability. 
  • Represent ellenor confidently in both community and legacy-related settings, engaging diverse audiences through clear and persuasive communication. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential legacy pledgers by offering valuable information about the impact of leaving a gift to ellenor. 
  • Work closely with the Community and Legacy teams to align messaging and enhance fundraising efforts for both departments in the interests of engagement with the wider community.  
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on engagement and outcomes from talks, ensuring accurate records are maintained for follow-up and engagement. 
  • Support with other fundraising events and initiatives, as requested, to raise awareness and generate interest in leaving a legacy to ellenor. For example, being a representative of ellenor with a stand at events.  

About you: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for creating engaging presentations and following up with attendees, ensuring they have a positive experience 
  • You’re flexible, a good communicator and able to use your initiative. 
  • Willing to undertake Mandatory and Statutory training yearly and 3 yearly. 
  • Ability to handle a range of changing priorities and sensitive issues. 
  • The role requires flexibility to attend talks and events during weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed, we are willing to take on more than one applicant if required.  
  • Must have access to personal transport and be able to travel to different locations on demand, including regular trips to Swanscombe Offices and the Hospice as well as external sites that your attendance may be required for presenting/ giving talks.  

Please note: To volunteer with the Fundraising Team, you must be over 16 years of age, have the right to volunteer in the UK, and be able to complete a Standard DBS check. This is a voluntary (unpaid) position.

IT Support Assistant

Location: ellenor Hospice, Coldharbour Road, DA11 7HQ

Hours: Minimum of 1 day per week, 2 or more preferred.

Times: Flexibility (between 09:00 – 17:00, Monday – Friday)

Do you have an experienced IT background and some time to spare each week to support ellenor staff and its services volunteering within the IT Support team?

We are excited to be expanding services and systems and are looking for somebody who can bring their IT Support experience into the ellenor organisation to help support users, changes, and new system implementations.

Your time will directly and indirectly help support our wonderful staff who deliver our care services within the Hospice and wider community.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back and be part of an amazing team.

The Role:

As a Volunteer IT Support Worker, you will provide support to ellenor staff including other volunteers, the IT Infrastructure and equipment used across the entire ellenor organisation. 

Activities will include-

  • Maintenance of user’s accounts through onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Preparation and provisioning of IT equipment to staff
  • Maintenance of inventory and management records
  • Management of IT problems tickets and resolution tracking
  • On occasion working with vendors to rectify problems

 About you:

  • A friendly, approachable, and supportive attitude
  • Ability to work independently while completing your tasks, with a willingness to work within, contribute to and become a valuable member of the team
  • Have a professional attitude

Training and Support Provided:

  • Full induction training and necessary equipment for the role
  • Applicable support and supervision from IT Support team members

To volunteer in the hospice applicants must be over the age of 18, have the right to volunteer in the UK and require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
