Catering Assistant - Flexi bank

As a member of our Catering team, your main duties will be to prepare and cook a variety of meals for patients, relatives, staff and the general public and to assist with functions that the hospice sites require. This role can be very physically demanding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the organisation.

 

Operational Responsibilities:

  • To prepare, cook and serve meals throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch and supper for patients, visitors, and staff, this will involve direct patient contact. A good understanding of basic cooking is essential. (i.e.: cooking with fresh individual ingredients as opposed to packets or jars).
  • To assist with helping to develop new menu options that accommodate the requirements of a diverse population, also any special dietary requirements.   
  • To assist with preparation of items sold through ellenor outlets.
  • To assist at special functions at the Hospice’s sites as directed.
  • To assist with any scheduled catering cleaning duties as directed.
  • To participate in activities organised with other teams such as the Children’s Team.
  • To assist with cover of catering duties on weekends and Bank Holidays as part of a rota system.
  • To be responsible for following safe working practices and to follow all Health & Safety, Food Regulations 1995 and HACCP guidelines.

To assist with ordering supplies within pre agreed budgets in the absence of the Catering Manager

Senior Individual Giving Officer

Senior Individual Giving Officer

 

Salary: £26,761 – £30,094 (dependant on experience)

 

Location: ellenor Hospice, Gravesend DA11 7HQ combined with hybrid working

 

Hours:  37.5 Hours per week

 

Opportunity for a Senior Individual Giving Officer to join Team ellenor.

The postholder will build strong relationships within the community we serve, be a collaborative team player, and contribute to growing and developing ellenor’s diverse Individual Giving programme.

 

Working closely with the Individual Giving Manager, the Senior Individual Giving Officer will lead several key fundraising activities. While the Individual Giving Manager holds overall budget responsibility, the postholder will work towards income targets and lead on cash appeals, raffles, and the in-memoriam appeal. They will also support the acquisition and retention of our valued lottery players and regular donors, ensuring fundraising asks and supporter journeys are well-timed and tailored to different audiences.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead donor recruitment and development campaigns across print and digital, aligned with strategy, budget, and deadlines.
  • Assist the Individual Giving Manager in planning and delivering the annual programme, including project management and recommendations.
  • Coordinate daily with internal teams and external suppliers, from brief to final delivery.
  • Monitor and report on campaign KPIs to guide planning and improve results.
  • Support budgeting and reforecasting for the Individual Giving programme.
  • Manage existing initiatives (e.g., appeals, in-memory) to maximise donor income.
  • Deliver stewardship activities through mailings and digital engagement.
  • Plan and run integrated direct marketing campaigns.
  • Set and track KPIs, using data to optimise performance.
  • Support donor phone campaigns (retention, upgrades, reactivation).
  • Prepare data briefs for segmentation and collaboration.
  • Lead key campaigns like the annual “Lights of Love.”
  • Develop campaign project plans with milestones and resource needs.
  • Communicate with supporters via email and phone professionally and empathetically.
  • Line manage the Individual Giving Officer, providing direction, objectives, and regular reviews.

 

Essential requirements of the role include:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification, including Maths and English at Grade C or above.
  • Demonstrable experience in an Individual Giving or fundraising role.
  • Proven experience in producing data-driven reports and insights for internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in line management and leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience in successful donor acquisition and direct marketing.
  • Experience in devising and implementing campaigns, direct marketing copy and producing high-quality, successful marketing materials.
  • Experience managing and maintaining accurate data or customer records.
  • Experience of working within a charity, hospice or volunteer organisation (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with data protection legislation and GDPR compliance in relation to personal data

Weekend Administrator

Salary: £4,846.40 - £5,067.80 per annum (dependant on skills and experience)

Hours: Every Saturday & a share of Bank Holidays

Location: Gravesend, DA11 7HQ

 

Are you friendly, approachable, and confident in admin and customer service? We’re looking for someone like you!

 

As an Administrator on our Inpatient Ward in Gravesend, you'll support both clinical and non-clinical teams, handle queries and calls, and manage a shared inbox. The role requires resilience and professionalism in sensitive situations.

 

You’ll work every Saturday as well as some Bank Holidays, following an annual rota (some flexibility available). Paid weekday training and shadowing are provided. This is a site-based role, so please ensure you're comfortable working on the Ward before applying.

250711 Catering Assistant (Part - Time 20hrs per week)

Salary: £12.21 per hour.  Pay Point 6

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 2pm – 6pm

Location: Hospice, ellenor, Coldharbour road, DA11 7HQ

 

ellenor is looking for an experienced catering assistant to join the hospice. You will be part of a skilled catering team, operating 365 days per year delivering high quality service to our patients, staff and visitors.

 

Good wholesome food is fundamental to providing quality end-of-life care, and we are looking for an applicant with the passion and drive to deliver a catering service of the very highest standards.

 

Duties will include food preparation, cooking, cleaning, liaising with customers, staff and most importantly with patients directly regarding their meal requirements. You will also assist in preparing meals & snacks for our in-house café.

 

You should have a “can do attitude”, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work alone but also as part of a busy team.

  • You’ll be a confident and credible communicator with a positive attitude and experience of working within a sensitive environment.
  • A confident user of Microsoft products and databases with demonstrable skills in analysing and interpreting information, producing reports and an excellent attention to detail.
  • You will have experience of supporting and coaching others with prompt and effective advice on volunteer supervision and performance management. You should also be committed to your own continuous personal and professional development.
