We have a fantastic opportunity for experienced business professionals to join ellenor at Board level, helping to shape our strategic direction and support our continued development.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with proven experience and expertise in one or more of the following sectors:

  • Health and Social Care

  • Marketing & Income Generation

  • Senior-Level Management

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT)

  • Finance and Accounting

  • Legal – with a strong preference for expertise in Charity Law

Director of Care & Quality

Job Title:  Director of Care & Quality

Department:  Executive

Contract Terms:  Permanent Contract, Full Time, 37.5 hours

Salary:  £70,000 - £80,000 p.a.

We are ellenor, a hospice charity, providing vital support to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses in North Kent and Bexley.

At ellenor, we embrace life, offering support from the moment of diagnosis and beyond.

Our full range of services is available for children, young people and their families living in Gravesend, Dartford and Swanley. We also provide children’s respite and wellbeing services within Bexley. The demand for our services is set to increase significantly, yet we remain dedicated to providing essential care and support when it matters most.

About the role

As Director of Care and Quality, you will lead a diverse, dedicated team of clinicians, allied healthcare professionals, counsellors and therapists. We would look to you to develop the services that ellenor provides and utilise the new premises to its maximum capacity for those in our care and our local community.

This is a pivotal leadership position at the heart of the executive leadership team, offering the opportunity to shape services at a time of transformation. We are looking for someone who can provide visible, compassionate leadership – someone who understands the importance of empowering staff and volunteers, and who can build strong relationships with external partners and our local community.

Clinical Nurse Specialist (Adult Community Services)

Salary: £45,118 – £48,288 (pro rata) per annum

 

Location: ellenor hospice (DA11 7HQ)

 

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, flexible workdays– including weekends

This is an incredible opportunity to join the ellenor adult community services team. This is a brilliant part-time role combining clinical and community care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing palliative care and end of life services to patients in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley area.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • To take responsibility for a defined group of patients in the community, ensuring the highest possible standards of individualised care and prioritising need in line with a
  • available resources.
  • Ensure that the patient’s dignity is promoted and respected and that equality and diversity are top priority in the care of patients and families.
  • Undertakes a keen interest in teaching within the hospice with students and staff as required.
  • Complete comprehensive assessment of patients and their careers.
  • Delivers monitors and reviews the care of patients and families taking appropriate alternative internal or external services.

 

Essential requirements:

  • First level registered nurse with demonstrable experience in palliative care (Minimum 2 years)
  • Degree in palliative care or related subject
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Experience working in either community, specialist palliative care or general palliative care services.
  • Experience in working with own developing level of competence.
  • Experience of productive multi and interdisciplinary working
  • Knowledge of symptom management and ability to make initial assessment of patients psychological, social and spiritual needs, referring as necessary to the most appropriate needs.
  • Ability to maximize use of OT in the workplace.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at advanced level with patients and families with specialist palliative care needs.

Therapy Assistant

Therapy Assistant - 6 Month Contract
Salary: £23,874 – £24,964 (depending upon experience)
Location: ellenor, DA11 7HQ
Hours:  37.5 hours per week

Our Wellbeing department enables people with progressive life limiting conditions to live as independently as possible.  Working alongside therapists and nurses, you will carry out intervention plans with patients and carers in order to maximise function, wellbeing and quality of life.

  • To carry out therapeutic interventions as instructed by a qualified therapist, ensuring all sessions are recorded
  • To conduct small group activities, as directed by the Therapists
  • To perform clerical and housekeeping tasks that support the efficient running of the Therapeutic Activity Groups
  • To work under the supervision of qualified therapy staff to undertake a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks within the inpatient ward, outpatient setting and community
  • To recognise role limitations and refer on to other professionals as appropriate

 

Essential requirements of the role include: 

  • Understanding of the impact of illness and disability on an individual
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and use own initiative
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Non-judgmental approach to be able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Have empathy and understanding of issues encountered by people with palliative care needs

is not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK.
