Children’s Hospices across London (CHaL)
ellenor is proud to be a member of Children’s Hospices across London (CHaL), which is a group of six hospices that provide specialist support for children and young people. We help children with life limiting conditions and support their families across all 33 London boroughs and parts of the home counties. We work collaboratively with other charities to share our knowledge and find collective solutions for children and their families.
Independent research in 2011 estimated there were more than 6,000 children across Greater London with life-limiting conditions, and that number has almost certainly increased since then. But at present we’re only reaching just over 2,000, so we have much more work to do. By working together through CHaL, we're making resources go further so we can support more families in need across London and make a difference to more lives.
We are one of the leading children’s hospices in the UK, based just outside of greater London in Gravesend. We provide care services for children with life limiting illness and help to provide vital support for their families. ellenor is also one of the country’s first hospice at home organisations, providing care for children in the comfort of their own home where possible. This can make a massive difference for many families as it gives them more time to spend together. More than 90% of the care that we provide for children is delivered in their own home.
