The face of hospice care is changing
ellenor is a charity which has been offering the best care and support to families facing terminal illness in Kent for over 30 years. On average 89% of those under our care are able to die surrounded by their loved ones in a place of their choosing. We are the provider of all-encompassing hospice care for both adults and children living in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, West Kent and Bexley. Our services include adult In-patient and Living Well at the hospice in Northfleet, and 24 hour Hospice at Home for all ages.
Our strategic aims recognise our role in leading the development of services to the wider community at the end of life, and we see an increasing role in education and training and as a coordinator for providing the best possible palliative care to more people and families. As a result, we are expanding our services and teams and are looking for the right people to join us.
Are you passionate about ensuring patients and their families receive the best possible care for psychological support? Do you want to support patients, their families and the bereaved?
We are seeking a trained, registered and accredited counselling professional with a track record of working around end of life care to lead our counselling service to work as a senior counsellor.
You will be passionate about working with patients and families at the end of life, supervising counsellors and delivering training.
You will work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team and participate in the overall holistic care provision for our adult and children’s service as well as managing a team of volunteer counsellors (including those on placement as part of a counselling course). You will help us to develop counselling services for patients, carers and their families and lead the development of services which reach out into the wider community by taking services to outreach hubs.

Support with professional development will be provided and an employer contributory pension scheme is available. Please note this post is with ellenor and therefore you will not be employed by the NHS and as such does not attract the same benefits. NHS Pension Scheme members can transfer in their pension.
