Hospice Care Week is an annual event that recognises and celebrates hospice care within the UK. It's an opportunity to show the value of support, of care and of what matters to us as individuals at the end of life when we need it most.
We Are ellenor
Since 1985, ellenor has been providing compassionate hospice care to those that need it most. Our vision is simple: those facing the end of life should have the best care possible wherever they choose.
Caring for Healthcare Professionals
Education is at the heart of ellenor’s mission to promote and provide hospice care of the highest standards to all those in need. We believe that everyone approaching the end of life has the right to the highest quality care and support, wherever they live, regardless of their condition.
Caring for our Patients
Patients facing a terminal illness sometimes have physical, emotional and spiritual problems that are not improving at home or in hospital. Short admission to the ward gives the team an opportunity to observe symptoms and the effect of treatments, with the aim of lessening their severity and frequency before transfer to another place of care. As well as symptom management, some patients may be admitted for care at the end of life or for respite care, where appropriate.
Caring for Children
We offer a care service for children of all ages with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, In Dartford Gravesham and Swanley we provide clinical nursing support working with children’s families to provide care at their place of choice, which is often their own home. This means the children can receive care in familiar surroundings. Across Dartford Gravesham Swanley and Bexley in addition we provide respite and wellbeing services which include, Play therapy, Music Therapy, Counselling, Bereavement support to mention just a few.
Funding our Care
We are a charity that relies on the generosity of our local community. Your support however big or small makes a real difference.
ellenor needs £7 million each year to continue caring and supporting thousands of patients and families facing life-limiting and life-threatening illness in Kent.
Caring Holistically for our Patients
Beyond the end of life care you might expect from a hospice, our care includes a variety of holistic approaches to enrich the lives of our patients and their families, as much as we can.
We believe in the importance of adding quality to every aspect of life for our patients where possible, through our specialist hospice patient wellbeing activities and services. We also work to address the needs of our patients’ families in this area with a number of groups and activities with our family wellbeing services.
Thank You for Your Support
We are able to continue providing compassionate hospice care because you care.
Without your support, none of our work would be possible. From providing end-of-life training for healthcare professionals; palliative care on our Inpatient Ward; support for children of all ages with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions; holistic wellbeing services; and much more.
