This is a fully supported 8 week course for volunteers who want to  learn how to provide “hands on” care to support patients care in a practical way.  No previous care experience is necessary, just a caring compassionate approach and willingness to learn.

Location: ellenor, Coldharbour Road, Gravesend, DA11 7HQ

Aims and Objectives

  • To build a confident, competent and caring team of Care Volunteers to work at the Hospice

  • Ensure understanding of the roles and responsibilities to work as a care volunteer

  • Provide valuable knowledge, insight and support in caring for someone at the end of life

    You will be presented with a Care Certificate at the end of successfully completing this course.

    Cost: There is no cost for this course

    Care Volunteers will be able to experience various departments at the hospice and decide where they feel best placed to work. Working through an assigned workbook volunteers will be expected to attend training at the hospice at least once a week for 4 hours, with full support being provided for the work book. The course is expected to run for approximately 8 weeks. To become a care volunteer requires no experience or qualifications, all you need to bring is your hands, heart and commitment.

    Due to the nature of the course and as learning groups are run consecutively there is no set date as to when the next program will start. Places are limited on each course.
